What are you Medical & Rehabilitation Rights under the Michigan Workers' Disability Compensation Act?

An employee who is injured at work is entitled, under this law, to receive certain benefits. There are three basic benefits, which are to be provided regardless of fault or the responsibility for an injury.

Wages

The amount of the benefit is based on your average gross weekly wage earned before you became disabled. Your wage benefit is available to you only if your injury results in a disability from work and you are off work for more than seven days.

Medical Expenses

Your medical expenses are to be paid even if your injury does not prevent you from working. That coverage can continue for the remainder of your life as long as the medical expenses are necessary and related to the work injury. Such expenses include medical, surgical and hospital care; prescription medicine; physical therapy; dental expenses; hearing aids; appliances.

Vocational Rehabilitation

You may be entitled to vocational rehabilitation if your injury renders you unable to perform work suitable to you based upon your previous work experience, education and training. Vocational rehabilitation coverage includes job retraining, counseling and job placement efforts.
